6 things to avoid throwing in the kitchen drain

Drains are so convenient to have, any liquid that is dirty is thrown away there, wastewater from washing the dishes are thrown away through the drain. But I know that we are all guilty of throwing away some unnecessary wastes in our drains, like solid waste and other hazardous liquid wastes. That habit of throwing away unnecessary waste in our drains should put to a stop.

Throwing garbage in the drain can cause big problems to the plumbing system. And some problems could also be health hazard for the people who live in the home. And remember having problems with your plumbing system can be expensive especially the big problems, and of course, no one wants that to happen. Anyways, let’s continue to the 6 things that you should not throw in your kitchen drain.

Flour
Never throw flour down the drain, if you have experienced baking or cooking food that requires flour, you know what happens to flour when you incorporate it with water right? The flour turns into a soft solid. You don’t want to have a flour build-up in your pipe right? You might that it is easy to melt that away, yes but that small flour build-up can be a jump start for other mineral build-ups.

Coffee grounds
Coffee grounds are hard almost like a rock. If you have a small mineral build-up in your drain the coffee ground might get stuck into them too adding more mass to the build-up.

Stickers
What stickers? Your veggie and fruit stickers. Well, I’m kinda guilty of this, sometimes I dispose my fruit or vegetable stickers through the drain. Throwing these stickers in the drain could cause a clog.

Bones
Chicken bones, pork bones, beef bones, lamb bones, fish bones, and all the other bones. Do not throw away bones in your kitchen drain. Bones are really hard solid minerals that could really cause a major clog in your drain.

Pasta, rice, oats
Or anything that can expand when it is incorporated with water. Same as anything else this can cause a clog to your drain.

Chemicals
Chemicals and be really hazardous. If you have a weak or old pipe, some chemicals may easily destroy your pipe even strong chemicals with high acids. This may cause you pipe do disintegrate and have holes.
